Nia Turner

was the Rise Michigan Deputy State Director of Operations. They were a first year Biology student at Washtenaw Community College. Nia plans to transfer to a four-year university to study Zoology and Marine Biology. Their background as a person of color being from a low income community has made Nia uniquely aware of the challenges that many people face when trying to get an education or supply themselves with basic needs. Nia has always had a natural draw toward working with organizations dedicated to helping. They frequently work with Habitat for Humanity, United Way, and now, RISE. In the future, Nia hopes to become a wildlife conservationist, and to continue their work with organizations like RISE.
