Lannah Garrett

was Michigan’s Lead Deputy Director. She previously served as the Vaccine Education and Mobilization Manager in Detroit, as well as a student organizing fellow with Team Michigan. With a unique twist on Rise’s usual free college organizing, Lannah is an American “international” student from Michigan at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, due to lack of affordable tuition for the quality of education seen across the United States. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Environment, Resources, and Sustainability (ERS) in the co-operative education program with a focus on policy, as well as a dual minor in legal studies and Spanish. Lannah is an outspoken leader for social justice in her community with over 9 years of advocacy experience. She has recently worked in the Michigan House of Representatives where she was an Intern of the Year nominee and is currently on work placement with the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing’s Provincial Planning Policy Branch to help expand protected environmental lands in Ontario. With her acquired knowledge, Lannah plans to attend law school in the fall of 2024 to study immigration policy across North America in response to climate change and other global phenomena.
