is a Rise Student Navigator and graduate student pursuing a Masters of Social Work at Michigan State University. She is a member of the MSW Research Scholars Program studying equitable community development in Detroit, and serves as a peer writing tutor at the MSU Writing Center. Previously, she worked with the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), helping undergraduate students with backgrounds in migrant and seasonal farm work transition to college. Katie is interested in cultural humility, racial justice and equity, and history. She loves working with students, and hopes to teach someday. After graduation, Katie plans to obtain a social work license, work in the field for a few years, then pursue a PhD in Social Work, History, or Applied Anthropology. She likes listening to podcasts, sketching, and taking the long way to the lake.
