Chong Khang

is a first generation Hmong woman from my family to attend college. Chong is an undergrad student at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Chong worked at a non-profit organization called, Portage County Literacy Council in Wisconsin. During her time working there, Chong was tutoring a learner about literacy, whether that was writing, speaking, or reading. It was a unique experience to learn about others and get involved in the community. Chong was a co-coordinator for our Hmong Week Celebration that happened on May 15th to celebrate Hmong people’s resilient, bravery, and passion for who they are and what they have done. It was an eye opening to coordinate this celebration because it was a space where Hmong people can use to showcase their abilities and skills.
